Leno has always had a passion for organizing spaces and streamlining processes. He combined this with his keen interest in entrepreneurship to launch Organizing, Cleaning, and Decluttering – O.C.D. Home Help. Knowing that organizing is a niche market with a select clientele base, he determined at an early stage to diversify his business and include residential cleaning to his services.
Leno knew from the outset that marketing and referrals were crucial to the success of his business, so he invested time and energy into developing his brand and marketing campaign. He divided his efforts between his online presence and delivering flyers door-to-door, always ensuring to portray his professional and capable business brand. Never afraid to get his hands dirty, Leno found himself organizing garages, attics, pantries, and providing cleaning services for households across Timmins. Leno did not just sort out cluttered spaces – he provided storage solutions by assessing needs and purchasing appropriate organizational bins, boxes, caddies, jars, baskets, shelf organizers, etc. to ensure that his clients received the full O.C.D. Home Help experience. ‘Before and after’ pictures posted online helped to continue to drive sales, and family and friends were valuable in helping to spread the word.
Leno learned the importance of marketing to raise customer awareness and establish company reputation to drive sales. While he had a busy summer, he admits that he “underestimated how long it would take to establish a regular clientele”.
Reflecting upon his experience, Leno says, “”The Summer Company program has provided me with not only the funding to start my business but invaluable tools and resources which were crucial to my success. I have learned so much within the course of one summer, all of which will tremendously help me moving forward on my entrepreneurial path. I would recommend the Summer Company program without hesitation.”
