Fire
The Timmins Fire Department has 147 volunteer firefighters in 6 departments. There are a total of 31 full-time firefighters, including 28 on suppression and 3 on fire prevention. The Timmins Fire Department provides protection from fire, life-threatening emergencies and dangerous conditions, through a team approach in regards to fire protection, fire prevention and public education.

Police
The Timmins Police Service takes great pride in serving its citizens in order to ensure safety and security within the community for everybody to enjoy. Our Service recognizes the need to work together with all community entities and has forged many partnerships over the years in a concentrated effort to prevent and solve crime. Our Service strongly believes in the concept of community-based policing and works diligently to build relationships, while showing sensitivity and concern for the needs of people from all cultures and backgrounds.

The Ontario Provincial Police sponsors and is involved in many crime prevention programs. Some of these include: Neighbourhood Watch, Cottage Watch, SKI ID and BIKE ID (anti-theft programs), Traveling Alone for Women, Anti-Shoplifting programs, Robbery Prevention, Values, Influences and Peers Program (grade 6 program), D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), and P.A.L., a Crime Watch program in conjunction with Union Gas.

Timmins Community Safety Committee is a charitable organization, acting in the best interests of the community by responding to the needs of its citizens and bringing about programs directed at enhancing the safety and security of the residents.

Ambulance
On January 1, 2001, the Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board (CDSSAB) as the Designated Delivery Agent became responsible for the provision of Land Ambulance Services within the District of Cochrane.
