TIMMINS:  The Timmins Economic Development Corporation (TEDC), in partnership with Ontario's North Economic Development Corporation (ONEDC) and the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry (MNDMF), is currently in the planning stages for participation at MINExpo in September 2012.   MINExpo is a once-every-four-years opportunity for companies whose products, services and technologies serve the mining industry. The show attracts more than 38,000 mining industry professionals from more than one hundred countries.  It is the premier mining trade show in the world.

In addition to securing exhibit space, the TEDC and its partners are also seeking to coordinate a series of meetings and presentations at the event, with a goal of increasing knowledge and opportunities for Northern Ontario businesses.  Timmins companies will be invited to participate in these meetings to promote their products and services to international clients.  The TEDC encourages all businesses participating in MINExpo 2012 to contact us and register to ensure that your company is included.

The Timmins pod will once again be co-located with other Northern Ontario communities.  In addition to this exhibit space, the TEDC and its partners are offering two Timmins businesses the opportunity to have a pod within our exhibit space, at a cost of $5,000 each.  Businesses interested in taking advantage of this opportunity should contact Cheryl at the TEDC as soon as possible, as the pods will be allocated on a first come basis. 

Funding is available to support mining supply and services companies' marketing efforts, including attendance at MINExpo 2012.  The TEDC is eager to assist companies access funding through the Export Marketing Assistance Program.  Northern mining supply and services companies can seek funding up to 50% to a maximum of $10,000 to assist in covering the costs of developing new international and domestic markets outside of Northern Ontario.  Eligible costs include travel, accommodation, marketing material, translation, booth design and exhibit space.  The goal of this program is to help companies increase their sales to international markets.  Take advantage of this program to attend MINExpo, PDAC or other international trade shows.
