The area surrounding the City of Timmins is dotted with innumerable lakes, rivers, and streams; regional flora and fauna; endless wilderness trails; and crisp fresh air that is unavailable in other urban centres. The summer’s beaches and hiking trails give way to the winter’s skating rinks and cross-country ski trails, while the beauty of the autumn foliage is only matched by the first appearance of springtime blossoms. Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or simply enjoy a weekend at the cottage, the City of Timmins boasts the natural beauty that even the most discerning individual can enjoy.
Close to Timmins, Kettle Lakes Provincial Park is dotted with 22 lakes, most of which are glacially formed kettle lakes. These deep, spring-fed, quiet lakes are reachable by trails and roads and a great place for you to swim, paddle or fish. Both day-users and campers can enjoy seven beaches, and participate in organized summer and winter programs.

A long, curving lip of sandy beach with warm, shallow water for swimming beckons families with young children to this lake between Chapleau and Timmins. This park is a popular spot for family holidays, fishing trips, and canoe outings and is a great place to either hike alone (or with park naturalists) to the bog and kettle lakes, or paddle out to your own favourite spot to see moose in their natural habitat.
