Welcome to the Timmins Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) homepage. Since its inception, the TEDC has been a driving force in positioning our city as one worth investing in.
The City of Timmins is a hub for many surrounding communities, with a catchment population of approximately 150,000, including the coastal communities of James Bay and those of northwestern Quebec. We are Ontario’s premiere four-season destination for adventurous vacationers, families and travelers from around the world who are in search of unique, uncrowded and memorable experiences.
No matter what time of year you find yourself in the “City with a Heart of Gold,” you’ll be fascinated by its beauty, history and small city charm. Here you will be greeted by friendly people and great northern hospitality. We celebrate diversity and embrace the thousands of new people who come here each year, to work, live, learn or visit.
While Timmins’ primary industry is mining, we have a diverse workforce that supports this industry and our community as a whole. Our education and health sectors boast state-of-the-art facilities, and our business sector is shaped by entrepreneurs who have helped create our story and are positioned to carry it forward.
Amid the untamed and pristine wilderness that surrounds us, our cosmopolitan flair offers something for even the most discriminating taste; a top-rated symphony orchestra, choirs, theater groups, an ultra-modern public library, Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre and Indigenous celebrations. Great shopping is available and includes three shopping malls, several big box stores, and quaint specialty boutiques located in our downtown core. The City of Timmins is a multi-cultural mosaic deeply rooted in European and Indigenous cultures and every year we celebrate the best in culture, music, the arts, and sports during various festivals and tournaments.
Whether planning a move or a visit, I invite you to discover our mining heritage through one of the guided or self-guided mining or heritage tours, and get up close and personal with the majestic Canadian moose and many other animals on a tour of the Cedar Meadows Wildlife Park. And if you are lucky, marvel at the sight of dancing Aurora Borealis or the prominent Milky Way as you look up into our dark, clear skies.
Our geographical location, unique economic advantages, strong cultural identity, proficiency to cultivate knowledge and innovation, and the passion and drive of our people certainly have us aligned to ensure our future success, and possibly yours.
Whatever your plans, we want you to know that the TEDC has an experienced, qualified staff ready to assist you. Relocating here has never been easier, and we look forward to welcoming you to our community!
