Arts and Culture
Timmins (ACT) is a volunteer organization whose
purpose is to improve the quality of life in the
Timmins area by encouraging and facilitating arts
and cultural activities. Their goal is to
provide leadership within the arts community.
They foster and develop creative excellence among
artists.

Curtain Call is
a group of local people who perform various
theatrical productions in the Timmins area.
Although they have no set dates which they
abide by, they usually stage their
productions at Timmins High and Vocational
School auditorium.

LES MARINGOUINS DU NORD |
PORCUPINE ART CLUB |
|
This is a francophone
theatre group which is associated with Centre
Culturel La Ronde. Les maringouins du Nord
perform two plays a year. Most of the
productions are original plays written by the
members.

The Porcupine Art
Club was established in 1947 and meets regularly.
They are a member of the Ontario Art Association.
Situated in
Nicholson Park in Timmins, at the corner of
Pine St. N and Eighth Ave., the PAC has held
it's "ART IN THE PARK" every last Sunday of
May, June, July and August since 1987.

Take Two Theatre has
been bringing enjoyable entertainment to the Timmins
area for over 17 years. They have had great
support from the community.

Timmins Symphony Orchestra
provides local amateur musicians an
opportunity to develop their musical
talents, deploy their music resources for educational services, and
generally encourages the growth and development of
music appreciation in the northeastern
Ontario region.

The Timmins All-Star
Big Band is a community band that specializes in the
music of the big band era. They have developed
an extensive repertoire of music, which includes
earlier arrangements and some new arrangements of
old standards.

The Timmins Youth
Singers was founded in 1978 by Rosanne Simunovic.
Her ability to create and implement innovative
programming opportunities has attracted numerous
exceptional
artists to perform with the Timmins
Youth Singers. Many current and alumni members
of the Timmins Youth Singers have continued to
establish exciting musical careers winning
provincial and national recognition.

The Society has been
bringing quality Canadian, international and
independent films to Timmins for more than a decade.
All shows are at 7:00 p.m. at Timmins Cinema 6 and
films are generally screened every second Monday
from September through June.

The
Timmins Police Pipes & Drums is co-sponsored by the
Timmins Police Service & Association and was formed
September 2000. The band is under the
direction of Pipe Major T. Luke and is open to the
general public. This group can provide a solo
piper or drummer, or the entire band for parades,
weddings, funerals or any special event.
